Are you suffering from too much multi-tasking? Over the past 7 weeks I’ve been traveling all over the country, giving speeches, workshops and consulting with individual clients. The universal cry? People are feeling scattered, and overwhelmed with demands and to-do’s. We plunge through our day like octopi—doing 8 things at once. Are we more productive? Actually, no...

Hi Julie! I love the idea of a time map, but have reasontly switched from a paper based calender to an electronic one. Do you have any tips on how to use a time map in conjunction with an electronic calender such as Pocket Informant for iPhone, which I use? /Annika

Hi Julie - great concept. In todays fast-paced blackberry/email/twitter/FB/cell phone/ reactive world, we need to keep priorities in focus.

Hi Annika, While Im not sure about other electronic calendars, I can definitely help you with Pocket Informant. When you download pocket informant onto your Ipod/Iphone it comes with 3 pre-established calendars: work, family, and International Task Calendar. In the settings area, under general settings, you can create a new calendar, name it and custom color it. Make this into your Time Map. Then create tags that are color coded and labeled to match your time map (it might be a good idea to create it on paper first), i.e. blue for errands, green for family, etc. and create the time map using the tags by scheduling a designated hour, and tagging it with the appropriate tag. Use your other calendars (work, family, etc) for all your appointments and if you show the time map all the time, you will be able to schedule your appointments, meetings, and other things directly next to it. Use the same tags that you used for your time map to color code your appointments in the work/family/other calendars. Hope this helps you, Julie Morgenstern

I like the idea - but I would love a visual! Is there an example we can look at?
